Our Story
“Singing, like sunshine and laughter, creates JOY within us and around us.”
Miss Jacquie
An idea formed on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, and later finding a welcome home in the inspiring community of St Helens, Tasmania, Miss Jacquie’s Sip & Sing is born from a love of music, and of sharing that passion and experience with others.
A professional performer since the age of 11, Jacquie has graced stages around the world throughout her career. A trained vocal coach, singing and dance teacher, Jacquie loves nothing more than shaping the process and language of music to students of every age and ability to learn and revel in creative expression.
“I have always loved the creative process. It’s when I’m in my zone and happy place! I feel energised around nature, the elements, colour, vibrancy, movement, and people that laugh. I am so excited to be back performing and putting my energy into developing and delivering Miss Jacquie’s Sip & Sing events. It’s quirky, original and highly rewarding.”
In Tasmania, the Sip & Sing experience has found its home, a creative environment that inspires self-expression, celebration and fun. Miss Jacquie is delighted to work with leading musicians across the Apple Isle to bring Sip & Sing to even more people.
Matt Toms
“I love that music can be alive and elastic, and most of all fun, and Miss Jacquie’s Sip and Sing is the perfect format to bring that all together in a performance environment that’s unlike any other.”
Matt grew up in the hills above Byron Bay and picked up a guitar at age 9.
He’s had one in his hands ever since.
He’s played in touring covers bands, bush bands, roots reggae trios, hard working Sydney duos, and has gigged as a soloist across the UK, New Zealand, Sydney and the entire length of Australia’s east coast, now including Tasmania, since recently relocating from Sydney to Hobart.
Along the way he has busked, won ukulele songwriting awards and performed at festivals, composed music for the screen, and since 2006 has been a professional guitar and ukulele teacher, complete with a youtube channel for lessons that is rapidly growing.
“I’ve forgotten literally thousands of songs, but a few have stuck. And it’s given me not only a very broad repertoire, but an ability to adapt and adopt to many different styles”.
“Miss Jacquie made everything so relaxed and fun.”
